A woman accused with stalking Kate McCann allegedly deposited her a recorded message which questioned: "suppose I am Madeleine?"

On Monday, Leicester Crown Court learned phone records and data obtained from phones documented Ms Wandelt repeatedly requesting Madeleine's mother for a biological test over 2023 and 2024.

Madeleine's vanishing in 2007 - at the age of three during a vacation in Portugal - is one of the most widely reported missing child cases and is still open.

'I Don't Want Money'

A separate recorded message, shared in court, captured Ms Wandelt stating: "I understand I'm overweight and not pretty like Madeleine used to be, but I believe what I feel."

While another instance of Ms Wandelt's recordings with Mrs McCann's voicemail stated: "Suppose there is a small chance that I am she? What then? Isn't that significant for you?"

"I am not seeking money, I have a existence here in Poland, I just want to understand," the message continued.

The panel was advised that by means of emails, text messages and calls, Ms Wandelt demanded a genetic test, transmitted youth pictures to her phone in a attempt to display a likeness to Mrs McCann's disappeared daughter, and stated to have "recollections" from a youth with the McCanns.

Robert Jones, an investigator with the police force who compiled the evidence, told the court there "showed no any replies" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt also communicated with acquaintances of the McCanns, as per the phone records.

On that date, Mr McCann picked up a communication from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, stating she had "the wrong phone."

On that occasion Ms Wandelt recorded a message on Mrs McCann's recording stating "I won't give up and I will prove my position."

The court learned the co-defendant developed a relationship online with Ms Wandelt prior to accompanying her on a appearance to the McCanns' property in Leicestershire in December 2024.

Phone records showed Mrs Spragg had reached out through messaging service to Mrs McCann to state the media had portrayed Ms Wandelt as "mentally unstable" but that she should be taken seriously in the time leading up to the trip to that location, the county, in last December.

The court was told message exchanges between the two defendants, in November 2024, discussing endeavoring to get Mrs McCann's biological evidence from her garbage or from cutlery at a eating establishment.

"We must take action," Mrs Spragg informed Ms Wandelt.

On the evening of the appearance to their house, the defendant transmitted a communication which said: "We are sat adjacent to the McCanns' house with our vehicle dark similar to detectives. I wanted to achieve this with another person I hadn't anticipated I would be engaged in this with the McCanns."

The trial ongoing.
