British boxer Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Nigeria Following Fatal Car Crash
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities stated on Wednesday night. The athlete was part of a serious road collision near Lagos on December 29th, a devastating event that claimed the lives of two of his team members.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
The boxer had been receiving medical attention while recovering from minor injuries, representatives confirmed on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was judged healthy enough to continue his recovery at home.
“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two deceased friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” Omotosho said.
A Tribute to the Fallen
The two men who died were named as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. Omotoso added that the athlete was heartbroken and overcome with emotion over the passing of his two dear friends.”
