Spurs Manager Thomas Frank Labels Goalkeeper Critics 'Not True Genuine Supporters'

The Cottagers Begin Powerfully to Beat Spurs and Raise Pressure on the Manager

Tottenham Hotspur supporters who booed keeper Guglielmo Vicario were informed afterwards "those individuals can't be true Spurs fans" by boss Thomas Frank.

Tottenham let in two goals in the first initial moments to lose 2-1 to their opponents, marking their tenth Premier League at home defeat of the year.

But the primary talking point was Fulham's next score when the keeper gave away the ball far beyond his area.

He ventured out to handle a long ball and carried the ball towards the sideline.

However, instead of kicking it into touch, the Italy international turned and attempted to clear, but lost his footing as the ball skimmed off Harry Wilson and was collected by King.

The forward laid the ball off to Wales midfield player Harry Wilson, who bent a strike into the goal from the touchline recorded at thirty-six point six yards.

Seconds afterwards when the ball went to the keeper again, a number of Spurs supporters booed him.

The team were jeered off at the interval, with the club 2-0 down, and once more at the final whistle.

One of those booing episodes truly irritated the manager.

"It came to my attention a few of our supporters apparently booed the incident and jeered following, which, in my opinion is totally unjustifiable," the Dane stated about the supporters' reaction to his shot-stopper.

"Those individuals can't be true Spurs fans that act that way. Fair enough jeering after the match, fine, but when we are playing, we are supporting one another, we are behind each other moving ahead."

Tete had handed Fulham a fourth-minute lead before Wilson's goal – with Mohammed Kudus scoring for Tottenham in an better second period showing.

Ex- top-flight keeper Hart remarked that the next score was "completely preventable".

"I do appreciate the supporters' frustration," the ex-keeper continued. "I am aware the role the keeper is performing. He's a great squad member, he is a true leader in the locker room but ultimately you are going to be assessed by your actions.

"The keeper was deeply involved in what turned out to be the winning goal."

'It's In the Game, I Can Handle It'

Thomas Frank Stood Up For His Keeper Vicario Following the Game

Italian international Vicario is in his third campaign with Spurs.

He stated following the match that he had to accept the feedback.

"That score was a error of mine, I accept accountability for that," he said.

"The intent was to kick the ball long and I simply hit the ball in a bad manner. It was an even bigger challenge to climb."

He said receiving jeers "comes with the game".

"I'm a big man, what can I say?" he continued. "We cannot be influenced by the situation in the crowd. The fans have the right to do as they see fit.

"It's on us to remain increasingly calm, to focus on ourselves. The team is missing in composure and poise to reverse results. This match is a poor loss and it is hard to accept."

'It Shocked Me No One Went Back to the Goal Line'

Despite the keeper's mistake, it was far from an easy goal for Wilson to score.

Actually it was the next most distant Premier League score of the campaign – after Tyler Adams' forty-three point three yard strike for Bournemouth against the Black Cats, which interestingly also occurred on the same day.

The goalscorer said he was "a little bit surprised" that he still had an open net to target.

10 moments elapsed between Vicario exiting of his box and Wilson striking – which was 5 seconds after the kick.

"I felt like the keeper was out of the box for a long time," Wilson said.

"It amazed me not one of the defenders returned to the line. When not one of them covered the net, my interest lit up a bit.

"[Destiny] Udogie slipped as well, which allowed me a bit of additional opportunity. After that it was all about attempting to achieve the right contact and get it towards goal. I had a good feeling, the moment it came off my foot, that it was on the right line."

'During in a Bad Spell, Everything Appears to Go Against You'

Jeering Whilst We Are Still Playing Is Completely Unjustifiable - the Manager

Although Vicario's error led headlines, this was an overall poor performance for Spurs to continue their home ground struggles.

The match was their 10th at home defeat of 2025 in the league, a shared team record matching nineteen ninety-four and 2003.

The side still have home games against the manager's old side the Bees and champions Liverpool to come prior to the end of the season.

Just a single of those victories have come after the manager replaced Ange Postecoglou in the off-season.

"If you are behind 2-0 following the opening, there is a mountain to climb," said the boss.

"During in a bad spell, everything appears to go against you too – the opening was a deflected attempt, the second is a error from Vic.

"The outcome leaves us in a place where we have lost another match. Every game has a unique narrative, this game we lost in the early stages.

"We simply need to continue striving. The later period was significantly improved and with luck an aspect we can utilize to learn."

Spurs have been defeated in 4 consecutive home capital clashes for the first time in the Premier League.

And they are averaging nine point five attempts and 3.2 efforts on goal per match in the division – their lowest rates on record in a one season (since at least the 2003-04 season).

Ex- Cottagers midfielder Danny Murphy stated that Frank has to endure the criticism.

"He's got accept the stick," the pundit remarked. "He has accepted a prestigious job at a huge football club with massive anticipation. There is scrutiny and responsibility that accompanies that.

"Their showings at home have been disappointing and they have to get better {quickly|
